4/20/2016 0 Comments Halo, Purely for Pets and Filmmaker Larry Kay Team up for Homeless Pets with their latest film 'P.I. Woof'
What happens to shelter dogs when they receive good training and are fed a healthy diet? “Almost anything!” says award-winning dog filmmaker and author Larry Kay. To show the world exactly what he meant by this, Kay teamed up with Halo, Purely for Pets, and created, P.I. Woof, action-comedy short film starring talented shelter dogs from Pet Orphans, a rescue organization based in Southern California.
For P.I. Woof, Kay uses movie technology to immerse shelter dogs in his animated world. The title character is a wisecracking hero, P.I. Woof, performed by Trusty, a six-year-old mutt who was sheltered at Pet Orphans for more than a year before being adopted by shelter employees and becoming one of the first graduates of Kay’s filmmaking project.

Fans of NBC's Today Show are likely to be feeling a little sad today, as the show said goodbye to their resident K9, Wrangler, who departs the morning show to complete his formal guide dog training. The adorable dog, who joined the cast last year as their, Puppy with a Purpose quickly became a popular staple of the show as we watched him grow from rambunctious puppy to handsome dog. While Wrangler was always meant to go on to fulfill a much more important role as a guide dog, it still hard to say goodbye to the puppy who warmed our hearts. His fellow today show members also had a hard time saying goodbye to their 4-legged friend, and shared a tear filled video send off to mark the occasion. We all wish you well Wrangler and know you;ll make us proud!
Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts Gang made their triumphant return to the big screen last year and now, THE PEANUTS MOVIE, has arrived on Blu-ray & DVD.
The family friendly film, directed by, Steve Martino and produced by, Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz, Cornelius Uliano, Paul Feig and Miachel J. Travers, centers around everyone’s favorite underdog, Charlie Brown and his best pal, Snoopy. This time we find our favorite underdog, Charlie Brown, embarking on an epic and heroic quest, while loveable Snoopy takes to the skies to pursue his arch- nemesis, the Red Baron, with an outcome that will prove that every underdog has his day. What better way to celebrate the big screen debut of Snoopy and his Peanut Gang friends then with a few fun historical facts about Snoopy, the little black and white Beagle and his creator, Charles Schulz.
Fact 1: Did you know Snoopy, was actually inspired by Schulz’s own childhood dog, Spike, who was not a Beagle at all but actually a cross between a Pointer and a Hound.
Fact 2: As opposed to having any particular affinity for the breed. Schulz decided to make Snoopy a Beagle, because he thought the word, Beagle was just plain funny, Though don’t let that fool you, Schulz was a huge dog lover his entire life, having several breeds of all shapes and sizes over the years, including a Boston Bull Terrier, Golden Retriever, Saint Bernard, Wirehair Terrier and of course Beagles as his personal companions during his lifetime. Fact 3: Snoopy is the only fictional dog that is animated or otherwise to ever receive an honorary registration number Beagle -1 with the American Kennel Club (AKC). Originally known as the AKC Gazette, Snoopy appeared on the 1979 cover of the organzation’s publication posed holding his registration papers. Snoopy Appeared on the cover the November 2015 Issue of the AKC family dog magazine to celebrate the release of the movie. Fact 4: How was Snoopy able to sleep on the top of his doghouse? Just like in real life, birds sleep standing and can do so because their brains send them a signal to clamp their feet down on a branch. Well, Charles Schulz applied the same theory to Snoopy’s sleeping habits, by having his large floppy Beagle ears act in the same way – clamping down on the sides of the roof, thereby securing him to his doghouse for a comfy and good nights sleep. Fact 5: Snoopy, was not your ordinary dog, he listed Writer and Pilot among his many professions. His favorite food was chocolate chip cookies, which of course, any dog would be shocked to hear as chocolate is a big “no-no” for pups, but for Snoopy they were just right!. With all the detail and history of Snoopy, it’s no wonder that Charles Schulz created a character that has lived on in the hearts of so many, for so long. It especially comes as no surprise that dog lovers relate so deeply to the bond between Snoopy and his best friend, Charlie Brown. Now a whole new generation will get to enjoy the characters and all the fun. Be sure to pick up your copy of, The Peanuts Movie today. The televised event, from executive producing team Hilary Swank and Michael Levitt, has been renamed for it's second year of run on the network, but the mission remains the same, to help spread awareness of dog-related issues and encourage people to adopt one of the more than eight million rescue animals currently in the U.S. shelter system. Kaley Cuoco, star of the The Big Bang Theory, and long time animal advocate serves as the host for the show that features celebrities and heartwarming dog rescue stories. Pet Dish Weekly was on the red carpet ahead of the show's tapping and chatted with Levitt about bringing the show back this year. It is something he is not only passionate about but also knows the impact it can make. "We have this incredible 2 hour platform to create awareness. The idea that we had millions of people watching and could educate them about such subjects as spay and neutering, the joy of adopting a special needs dog or a senior dog or debunking the Pit Bull myth, all of that we know has made a difference, and we believe, because of that thousands of people went to their local shelter to adopt." ~ Michael Levitt Levitt also noted that last year of the 70 dogs that were featured on the show 67 of them were adopted, and hundreds of people signed up to become foster parents which is a huge success. He's hopeful that this year's show will prove equally successful in helping to get more dogs adopted. To help with the cause, Swank and Levitt have also invited several big name celebrities to take part in the show again. Miley Cyrus, Olivia Munn, Emmy Rossum, Carrie Ann Inaba and The Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan are just some of the stars on hand for the event. And no dog show would be complete without two of the current biggest canine celebrities around Marnie and Tuna, both boasting GINORMOUS Instagram followings are part of festivities this year. Levitt, who is fully aware of the demands placed on today's celebrities said, "It warms my heart at all the names we have coming out to support dogs, dogs that don't have a voice of their own." Be sure have your Kleenex on hand and tune in to FOX Thanksgiving night to catch all of the Paw-tastic fun.
